Regulatory Writing and Medical Communications Apprenticeship

One apprenticeship is available each year. This is a full-time, paid position with benefits. It is aimed at postgraduates looking to work in pharmaceutical research. The apprenticeship is fully remote and runs for the equivalent of 2 years of full-time work (40 hours per week). A laptop can be provided to apprentices if needed.

Requirements
  • Completed an advanced degree (PhD, Masters, PharmD, etc.) in the life sciences within the previous 2 years at an accredited college or university 

  • Interested in a career in pharmaceutical research and development 

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment 

What Will You Learn?

This apprenticeship is meant to provide you with a pathway to help you transition into a regulatory writer position. You'll have the chance to explore pharmaceutical research at various stages, work with a variety of documents, and connect with virtual teams. Plus, you'll manage project meetings and dive into project management, operations, and publishing software. It's a wonderful opportunity to grow and learn in a supportive environment! 

Mentoring to Achieve Your Goals

We strive to involve our apprentices in all aspects of the business. Each apprentice is paired with a senior staff mentor. Your mentor will help you navigate the apprenticeship experience and ensure you have the resources to achieve your learning goals.

Department of Defense SkillBridge Apprenticeship 

Requirements
  • ​​Active-duty service member or other person eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program

  • Interested in a career in pharmaceutical research and development

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment

How to Apply 

Apply through your Transition Office or Education Office. Please visit the DoD SkillBridge website for more information about the SkillBridge program. 

One apprenticeship, with the objectives and goals as described above, is available each year through the SkillBridge program to assist those who are about to leave the military to train for a civilian career in medical and regulatory writing. This position is designed to provide you with skills and training as part of your professional development.

Synterex Internship

Synterex accepts up to 4 interns per year. We are proud to partner with the Massachusetts Life Science Center's Internship Challenge program. 

Internships are available in science communication, medical writing technology and content architecture, and business operations. Each internship runs for 12 weeks of full-time work (40 hours per week). A part-time, longer-duration internship of the same total time can be negotiated. Internships are fully remote. A laptop can be provided if needed. 

Requirements
  • Massachusetts resident 

  • Current student at an eligible college or university. 

  • Studying for an undergraduate degree in life sciences, business, or information technology (IT) 

  • Strong sense of curiosity 

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment

We strive to involve our interns in all aspects of the business. Each intern will be paired with a staff mentor. Your mentor will help you navigate the internship experience and ensure you have the resources to achieve your learning goals.

What Will You Learn? 

Science communication interns will gain exposure to pharmaceutical research at various stages, tailoring medical communications like scientific manuscripts, social media posts, and blog articles for specific audiences. They'll practice professional communication and management of meeting times within large virtual teams, incorporating the agile project management style into their workflows. Interns will also gain experience with professional publishing and medical writing software.


Medical writing technology and content architecture interns will gain exposure to AgileWriter.ai, an artificial intelligence clinical documentation solution developed by Synterex, and its input and output documents. They’ll practice professional communication and management of meeting times within large virtual teams, incorporating the agile project management style into their workflows. Interns will also learn about the types of regulatory documents that are required to support clinical studies and how technology can be leveraged to make the writing process more efficient. 


Business operations interns will gain exposure to the backend of the business department at Synterex, learning about best practices in sales, marketing, and business development at a rapidly growing company. They’ll practice professional communication and management of meeting times within large virtual teams, incorporating the agile project management style into their workflows. Interns will also gain experience with managing internal files and data, playing a key role in streamlining operations and supporting critical decision-making processes.
